I didn’t even have names for my characters; I just knew I needed to tell a story, or at least a scene.” What began as 25 pages of ideas quickly grew into 50, and Mia realized she was hooked. From there, her journey as a writer truly began.

In Undeniable Fate, the theme of destiny brings Lily and Brandon together in a way that has captivated readers. “The interesting thing about that story is that it was originally part of an anthology I wrote with five other authors,” Mia reveals. “The theme was fate, and the rule was to work that into the story, no matter how small. I finished my story, but the characters weren’t finished with me. I continued the story of Brandon and Lily in Undeniable Love. The duet is a fan favorite.”

In 2018, Mia ventured into co-authoring with Susan Sheehey, resulting in the “Sweet Escape” trilogy—a series about three best friends who embark on girls’ trips and find love along the way. The collaboration began unexpectedly during a road trip to a book signing. “Susan made a fun quip that I then tagged on to,” Mia recalls. “This back and forth quickly turned into story-building. After a few minutes, I looked at her and said, ‘You know we need to write this story, don’t you?’”
What started as a single book soon evolved into a trilogy. However, the journey wasn’t without challenges. “Life hit us—hard,” Mia shares. “She lost her dad unexpectedly, and then I broke my leg. Worst pain ever. But we persevered. When one wrote, the other would get a notice that the document was changed. This propelled us to finish the three manuscripts.”
The hard work paid off. The first book in the series, Hot Spell, won first place in the International Digital Awards in 2019. The series, initially intended as a contemporary romance, also developed a rom-com flair, showcasing Mia and Susan’s ability to adapt and infuse humor into their storytelling.
