Expanding Beyond the Page

Never content to confine her talents to writing alone, Marcy has broadened her influence through public speaking and entrepreneurial ventures. She has taken the stage at major events, including the Women’s Thrive Summit, while also running her lifestyle platform, Tastefully Sexy by MarcyB. With 36 years of teaching experience, her passion for literature and storytelling remains unshakable. Looking ahead, her upcoming standalone novel Where No One Will Look promises a thrilling new adventure, with more works scheduled before the close of 2025.

The Birth of the Vengeance Series

When asked about her inspiration, Marcy admitted the Vengeance Series began almost accidentally. What started as a passing idea soon grew into a torrent of plotlines and characters demanding to be written. Central to the series are Aria and Mac, two characters whose relationship evolves from protector and survivor into equal partners. “You’ll want a love like Aria and Mac,” Marcy insists, emphasising the depth of their growth and the resilience they represent.

Reimagining Endings and Expanding Worlds

Originally intended as a stand-alone novel, Deception & Consequences transformed into a series when Marcy realised her characters’ journeys were far from complete. The decision to alter the ending opened the door for sequels Seduction and Revenge and Nightmares & Premonitions, as well as the interquel Secrets & Infidelity. This additional instalment helped her—and her readers—better understand the complex family feud underpinning the saga.

Finding the Right Publishing Path

Transitioning from self-publishing to working with Words Matter Publishing proved to be a turning point. Marcy found relief in having professional support for formatting, editing, and marketing. “I’m a writer,” she explains. “I want to focus on what I love and do best.” The partnership gave her books the polished attention they deserved, elevating them to new heights.

Crafting Romance and Suspense

Marcy’s writing thrives on drama, danger, and high tension. She avoids lulls by writing “one big disaster after another,” ensuring her readers stay hooked. A self-described pantser, she embraces spontaneity in her process, creating one twist after another to keep her audience eagerly turning pages.

A Memorable Milestone

One of Marcy’s proudest achievements was discovering her debut novel had reached number one in its category on Ingram. Surprised with the news at a pub by her publisher, she recalls the moment as both surreal and unforgettable—a celebration of her hard work and the beginning of her rise as a bestselling author.

Advice for Aspiring Writers

Reflecting on her journey, Marcy offers heartfelt guidance: “Write about what lights you up, and don’t worry about everyone else.” She learned the importance of authenticity after a period of trying to fit into the styles of other authors. Her publisher’s advice—“Just be Marcy, and let your readers find you”—became a defining mantra. For her, passion keeps writing from becoming work, making it a fulfilling way of life.
